Agape House’s garden yields more than just potatoes—it reflects the growth journey of our families. If you have never seen a potato plant, you may be surprised to know that you do not see potatoes! Above ground is a lush green bushy plant; under the ground, you will find the bountiful harvest- the potatoes.
Growing potatoes mirrors the progress of families as they join the Agape House program. Much of the hard work goes unseen by outsiders. It starts when families find safe shelter, allowing hope to be planted, like a seed in the soil, quietly growing beneath the surface.
Potatoes send roots downward and shoots lush leaves upward toward sunlight. Similarly, families establish roots on their road to independence, healing emotionally and reaching up as they secure jobs, learn life skills, and learn habits that sustain them through challenges. Like the potato, families face obstacles such as drought, doubt, and debt. When their time at Agape House ends, they can harvest the rewards of their efforts. Many graduates look back with gratitude at the lessons in patience and resilience they have gained.
We are deeply thankful to all our dedicated donors and volunteers who help us nurture and grow our Agape Harvest.
Out of the heart comes the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
I Challenge You Today – PRAY
Pray for the hearts of the residents. Pray that they can pass the midnight hour and break into a brand-new morning.
Pray for hearts that are open to the Word of the Lord and receptive to hearing the Spirit. That they would be brave enough to go to counseling, to search through hard places to find a safe and soft place to land. A place to find a “Welcome Home.”
