Community Grants from WaFd Bank’s Foundation to Support Local Programs
“We applaud the work of these organizations doing amazing work, adding to the health and vibrancy here in our communities,” said Brian Larsen, WaFd Bank division manager for Arizona. “As a bank committed to the communities we call home, we’re pleased to support these organizations helping to transition families out of homelessness and to prepare them for bright futures ahead.”
WaFd Bank, which prioritizes giving to small community-based nonprofits where the impact is greatest, awarded the seven grants this summer to the following organizations:
Agape House of Prescott ($1,500) – The grant will help support the Prescott-based organization’s efforts to provide long-term transitional housing for families without a residence, and support services to equip families for an independent and self-sustained future. Since 2015, the group has provided more than 32,000 nights of housing for homeless parents and their children.
“With an 86 percent success rate, we are grateful for our community partners like WaFd who believe in serving their neighbors,” said Becky Mitchell, Agape House of Prescott administrative director. “Serving families in crisis by providing interim housing, utilities, life skills training, and case management is making a difference in moving our neighbors in the Prescott and Quad City area from homeless to homeowners.”
Washington Federal Foundation focuses on programs and causes which help provide affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals, providing support for social agencies and nonprofits which serve the needs in the communities where WaFd Bank does business. The Foundation has awarded more than $20,000 to Arizona-based nonprofits, in addition to the summer grants.
