Agape House of Prescott is in the business of rebuilding and restoring hope into families who find themselves living in crisis. It is truly inspiring to get a glimpse at the day-to-day operation of how the Agape House team pulls off one success story after another. The team has over 40 volunteers who clean homes, move residents, mentor families, donate items, perform office work, and help with fundraising.

The more moving part of the restoration process is hearing the heart of the families whose lives are transformed by God’s abundant grace and the generous workers of Agape House. The Agape House families are no different from you and I. They have hopes and dreams, they have mothers and fathers, they have struggles, and they have past stories that affect them today. These families need an opportunity to catch a breath, get support, and grab onto the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

Below is a story of one of the families that were recently helped by the Agape House. When I read the emotion and gratitude of this mother, I was inspired and excited by how many lives Agape House has touched and how many lives are still in need of help and restoration.

From the Agape House Discipleship Director

I had the privilege to watch a single mother and her three girls move into their brand new low-income apartment recently. While I was visiting with the mother, and listening to her express her gratitude and disbelief to the Agape House staff, we could hear her three children laugh and play in their very own rooms.

On this special day her grandmother, sister, and brother-in-law stood by her side to support this single mother. A short year ago, many of her relationships with family, friends, and God were broken. Through her hard work and determination, lots of prayers, support from Agape House staff and volunteers, and the work of the Holy Spirit, this past year has brought relational reconciliation, restoration in many areas of her life (spiritual, physical, and financial), and renewed hope for today, as well as renewed hope for the future.

This incredible mother kept saying, “I can’t believe this is real, I think I am still in shock. Before Agape House, I didn’t know what I was going to do, or where I was going to go. God took care of my kids and me. I could have never dreamed that it would have been this good. So much better than I could have imagined.”

The road ahead is bright, but the hard work for her family continues. The verses that continued to come to my heart were John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” and Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We anticipate and celebrate with this family as they graduate in June 2020!
