Transitional Housing Community
Families are growing and learning how to rebuild their lives as they transition to a life of independence.
Over the past 18 months, the Agape House Apartments have seen a season of building a flourishing community. Once homeless families are learning to thrive in ways they never imagined. Many upgrades were made to the apartments, with more improvements to come. The ongoing landscaping improvements are looking fantastic, thanks to many volunteers putting in the time and sweat. Agape House families are continuing to move into their transitional homes, one family at a time.
When we first purchased the property, the apartments contained existing tenants living on the premises. Over time, many of the tenants slowly moved on, opening up the apartments for Agape House families to move into the community.
Over the past year and a half, Agape House assisted tenants by accommodating their timelines to move to a new location. Recently Agape House was notified that due to tax regulations and our nonprofit status, we must finalize the relocation of four remaining tenants’ by June 1st, 2021. The Nonprofit Property Tax Exemption certification that the Agape House property is recognized under (North America Industry Classification System NAICS #624229) requires that Agape House use the property for nonprofit purposes ONLY. In other words, “Nonprofit purposes” is defined as explicitly requiring Agape House can not act as a landlord with pay tenants. In conclusion, Agape House needs to comply with the State of Arizona tax regulations by June 1st.
We Need Your Help
We are reaching out to the Greater Prescott Community to seek your help to find new homes for these four families by June 1st. Each family receives resources and financial assistance as Agape House comes alongside the families during this transition time. If you know of available 1- and 2-bedroom apartments or duplexes, please contact the Agape House office at 928-910-1089.
Clearly, the State of Arizona is coming down on us to comply with regulations which, unfortunately, we have no control over. However, we see this situation as an opportunity for us to come together for the benefit of these four families…to love one another as Jesus as Christ first loved us. One day we will be able to look back and see how His plan for these four families came to be.
